Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has called on President Bola Tinubu to direct security agencies to protect the integrity of the electoral process as the collation of results for the governorship election begins. He made the appeal in a post on X on Saturday evening.

Adeleke expressed concern over alleged attempts by some politicians to disrupt or hijack collation centres across the state. He described the reports as deeply concerning and unacceptable, especially given the large number of security personnel already deployed for the election.

The governor urged the President to issue a clear warning to the heads of the security agencies and to reaffirm the commitment that the votes of Osun residents would count. He specifically called on the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services, the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to strictly follow the directive.

Adeleke also asked that the Independent National Electoral Commission be given every necessary support to complete the process and deliver a credible and transparent outcome. He praised voters for turning out in large numbers and speaking with one voice.

The governor urged security agencies to remain vigilant as results move from polling units to wards and local government collation centres. He further called on residents to remain peaceful and law-abiding while the collation continues.
