The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has criticised the Federal Government for what he described as its silence on recent remarks attributed to Islamic cleric Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir. He called for the cleric’s arrest over the statements.

Ayodele spoke in a video circulating on social media while reacting to comments in which Jingir was reported to have said those who rejected a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket should leave Nigeria. The cleric was also alleged to have referred to Christians as “infidels.”

The church leader claimed the government would have acted differently if a Christian religious figure had made a similar statement. He said Jingir should already be in jail and described the remarks as dangerous.
Ayodele urged the Bola Tinubu administration to caution Jingir and other religious leaders against making statements that could inflame religious tensions.

He warned that ignoring such rhetoric would put Christianity in trouble in the country.

He stressed that failure to address inflammatory comments from religious figures could further undermine peaceful coexistence and national unity. The primate called for stronger measures to prevent statements capable of dividing the nation.
