The Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), Zacch Adedeji, has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu lives a modest lifestyle despite being the President of Nigeria.

Adedeji made this known during an interview with Channels Television, where he defended Tinubu against claims that the President and other government officials live lavishly.

According to him, Tinubu sometimes walks from his residence to his office and only uses a vehicle when he is going to the airport.

Adedeji said, “Mr President goes from home to office on foot, not even driving except when he is going to the airport.”

He also claimed that the President eats only once a day and spends most of his time attending to official duties and reviewing government documents.

The NRS chairman further said Tinubu does not frequently attend parties or travel abroad for holidays, adding that the President has remained focused on his responsibilities.

“If you go there now, you will see him review one document or the other,” he said.

Adedeji’s comments came amid ongoing criticism over government spending and the lifestyle of public officials, particularly concerns about the use of expensive vehicles by government officials.

Speaking about the Cadillac Escalade vehicles reportedly used by the President’s convoy, the NRS chairman defended the expenditure, asking why the Nigerian President should not be able to afford such a vehicle.

“How much is an Escalade that the President of Nigeria cannot afford? Please don’t embarrass this country,” he said.

The comments have generated reactions from Nigerians, with the issue of government spending and the economic hardship faced by citizens continuing to attract public attention.

However, the claims about Tinubu’s personal routine were made by Adedeji during the interview and have not been independently verified.
