Troops of the 17 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have foiled an attempted attack by suspected terrorists in Charanchi Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The operation was carried out on Sunday, August 9, after security personnel received a distress call around 11:20 a.m. about the gathering of suspected terrorists near Kaddanya village.

Acting swiftly on the information, troops stationed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Radda mobilised to the area to intercept the suspected attackers.

The operation was conducted in collaboration with personnel of the Nigeria Police Force from Kankia and Charanchi, as well as members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps.

The joint security team successfully disrupted the suspected terrorists’ plans and prevented the attack from taking place.

Following the operation, the troops intensified patrols across the surrounding areas to maintain security and prevent the suspected terrorists from regrouping or gaining freedom of movement.

The security forces also continued to dominate the area as part of efforts to deny criminal elements access to the communities and forestall further attacks.
