Troops Ambush Terrorists Collecting Taxes from Herders in Adamawa

Troops of the Nigerian Army, working with local hunters, have ambushed suspected terrorists who were reportedly collecting taxes from herders in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

The operation targeted a group operating along the Gaba–Dzangola highway in Guyaku District.

Soldiers from 226 Battalion set up an ambush at a strategic location after receiving information about the activities. The operation began around 11:15 p.m. on August 6.
Contact was made with the terrorists at about 4:42 a.m. on August 7. The encounter forced the group to retreat in confusion.

Several weapons and ammunition were recovered from the fleeing suspects. The items included an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, rounds of ammunition, a locally fabricated pistol, and additional rounds.

No casualties were reported among the troops. The soldiers later returned to base after completing the operation, which forms part of ongoing efforts to secure the area.
