Troops Neutralise Terrorist, Recover Weapons in Benue
Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke have neutralised a suspected terrorist during a clearance operation in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.
A locally fabricated pistol and a motorcycle were also recovered in the process.
The operation took place around 2:00 a.m. on August 5 by soldiers from Sector 1 deployed at Zaki-Biam. It formed part of sustained efforts to rid the area of armed criminal elements.
Troops conducted the offensive in the Gbede general area, where they made contact with the suspected terrorists.
During the encounter, one of the suspects was neutralised while others fled into the surrounding bush.
The soldiers pursued the fleeing suspects and recovered the pistol, motorcycle, and other items believed to have been used by the criminals. The recovered items are currently in the custody of the troops.
Military sources said efforts are ongoing to track down those who escaped and maintain pressure on criminal networks in the Ukum axis.
The operation is part of broader efforts to protect communities across Benue State from terrorist and armed criminal activities.
