Troops of Sector 1, Operation Enduring Peace, have arrested a 17-year-old herder over the alleged destruction of a farmland in Jos East Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Security sources said the troops attached to Sub-Sector 12 responded to a report of the incident at Kerker Community at about 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

According to the sources, the affected farmland belongs to Matthew Ezekiel, while the suspect, identified as Yusuf Zakariah, was apprehended after security personnel arrived at the scene.

The sources added that efforts were ongoing to resolve the dispute through dialogue, with representatives of both parties, including the Ardo, Muhammad Zakariah, participating in negotiations under the supervision of security personnel.

Operation Enduring Peace reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peaceful relations between farming and herding communities, stressing that anyone found responsible for actions capable of threatening public peace would be held accountable in accordance with the law.
