Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has declared himself a devoted fan of Cristiano Ronaldo, claiming that he stays in regular contact with the football icon. 

The singer made the disclosure during a livestream with content creator Carter Efe, in a moment that quickly caught fire online.

Explaining why he backed Portugal at the recently concluded 2026 FIFA World Cup, Davido said his support had less to do with the country itself and more to do with the friendships he has built with players on the team.

When Efe pressed him further and suggested the real reason was Ronaldo, Davido did not deny it, admitting that he loves the Portuguese star and considers himself a committed CR7 fan.

Davido went on to claim that he and Ronaldo, a five time Ballon d’Or winner, communicate frequently, describing their exchanges in Pidgin English as talking to the legend back to back. To back up the claim, he reportedly pulled up his phone and showed Efe what appeared to be a chat conversation between the two of them.

Efe’s reaction quickly became the highlight of the clip, as he repeatedly shouted in disbelief that the moment had left him overwhelmed. The footage has since spread widely across social media, with fans reacting to both the claim and Efe’s excitement.

This is not the first time Davido has spoken about his relationship with Ronaldo, having previously described the footballer as a close friend and expressed admiration for his career on several occasions. The authenticity of the chat shown during the livestream could not be independently verified.
