Afrofusion superstar, Burna Boy is set to extend his own record as the only African artist ever to headline London Stadium, confirming plans to return to the iconic 80,000 capacity venue for a third sold out concert in 2027.

The announcement caps off a landmark year for the Grammy winning singer, who has continued to push the boundaries of what African artists can achieve on the global stage.

Burna Boy first teased the news with a cryptic Instagram post showing off a custom made 60 carat diamond necklace created to commemorate his two previous sold out shows at the stadium. He later confirmed the concert directly on X, writing that he was excited for 2027 and hinting that more announcements were still to come alongside the London Stadium show.

The singer, born Damini Ogulu, made history in June 2023 when he became the first African artist to headline and sell out the venue as part of his Love, Damini tour.

He repeated the feat a year later in June 2024 with another sold out night during his I Told Them tour. A third headline concert in 2027 would cement his status as the only African act to have achieved the milestone three times at the stadium, which has served as the home ground of Premier League club West Ham United since 2016.

The announcement comes shortly after Burna Boy’s appearance at the inaugural FIFA World Cup final halftime show, another high profile achievement that has further raised his international profile. He was also recently named executive consultant for the soundtrack of the upcoming Hollywood adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s Children of Blood and Bone, a project being produced by fellow Grammy winning Nigerian singer Tems.

Since breaking through with Like to Party, the lead single from his 2013 debut album L.I.F.E, Burna Boy has built one of the most decorated discographies in African music, spanning records like African Giant, Twice As Tall, Love Damini and his most recent project, No Sign of Weakness.

He holds the record for the most Grammy nominations ever received by a Nigerian artist, with thirteen nods to his name, and won the award for Best Global Music Album in 2021 for Twice As Tall. With a third London Stadium show now on the horizon, Burna Boy continues to reinforce his place as one of the defining African musicians of his generation.
