Team Nigeria concluded its campaign at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, securing 7th place on the final medals table and finishing as the highest-ranked African nation at the multi-sport competition.

The Nigerian contingent amassed a total of 24 medals consisting of 10 gold, 7 silver, and 7 bronze placing ahead of continental rivals South Africa and Kenya. Australia topped the overall standings with 171 medals (70 gold), followed by host nation England in second and Canada in third, with India, Scotland, and New Zealand completing the top six.

Nigeria’s performance was highlighted by several historic individual achievements, particularly in athletics:

* Samuel Ogazi made history by winning the men’s 400m gold in 44.25 seconds the country’s first-ever Commonwealth title in the event.
* Ezekiel Nathaniel became the first Nigerian man to win the Commonwealth 400m hurdles title.
* Chukwuebuka Enekwechi captured Nigeria’s maiden Commonwealth gold in the men’s shot put.
* Udodi Onwuzurike won silver in the men’s 200m, while Ruth Usoro claimed silver in the women’s long jump.
* Ella Onojuvwevwo secured bronze in the women’s 400m, ending a 32-year medal drought for Nigeria in the event.
* Tobi Amusan earned bronze in the women’s 100m hurdles.

In addition to track and field, Nigeria’s medal tally was driven by strong outings across weightlifting, para-powerlifting, para-athletics, and judo (where Enku Ekuta claimed bronze in the women’s -63kg category).
