The Egyptian cabinet has confirmed that a drone attack triggered a fire on two gas vessels at the Mediterranean port of Damietta, a critical liquefied natural gas (LNG) hub in northern Egypt.

The drone strike hit the US-owned floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) *Energos Winter*, sparking a blaze that subsequently spread to an adjacent Greek-owned LNG tanker, *GasLog Salem*. Egyptian authorities reported no casualties from the strike.

Emergency crews and port tugboats successfully contained and extinguished the fires, allowing Damietta port to continue operating at full capacity.

No group has claimed immediate responsibility for the strike. The Egyptian Petroleum Ministry and security authorities confirmed an investigation is underway to identify the origin of the drone and assess further security measures to safeguard national infrastructure and maritime interests.
