A key financial operative of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) has surrendered to troops of Operation HADIN KAI in Borno State alongside dozens of insurgents and their families following intensified military pressure.

In an official update issued on Sunday, the Acting Military Information Officer for Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, disclosed that the senior terrorist official voluntarily laid down his arms on July 25 along the Ladari–Jegarawa–Tunokalia supply route.

Detailing the profile of the suspect, Captain Goni stated that preliminary investigations confirmed the operative served as the chief financial manager for the ISWAP enclave in Jubillaram, where he oversaw logistics and monetary operations before surrendering alongside his two children.

The military spokesperson highlighted that this high-profile surrender occurred amid a broader wave of capitulations in the North-East, with approximately 46 additional insurgents and family members surrendering to troops of the 3 Battalion, 24 Task Force Brigade, following relentless land and air bombardments.

Reaffirming the military’s strategic trajectory, Captain Goni urged remaining insurgent elements to abandon terrorism while appealing to host communities to support ongoing counter-insurgency operations with actionable intelligence.
