Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a suspected terrorist spy whose activities are believed to be connected to a previously detained ISWAP suspect, following a fresh intelligence led operation in Borno State.

The arrest was carried out at about 1:30 p.m. on July 20 by troops of the 19 Brigade, acting on actionable intelligence obtained from Muhammad Mustapha, a suspected Boko Haram and ISWAP member who was arrested by troops of the 403 Amphibious Brigade in Baga on July 17.

The newly arrested suspect has been identified as Sheriff Modu. He was tracked and apprehended after investigations pointed to his alleged links with Mustapha, prompting troops to move swiftly to bring him into custody.

Modu is currently undergoing interrogation by operatives of the 19 Military Intelligence Regiment at Cross Kauwa, as security operatives work to unravel the extent of his alleged involvement with terrorist networks operating in the area.

The arrest forms part of ongoing military efforts to dismantle intelligence and support networks that sustain insurgent activities in the Lake Chad region, an area that has remained a flashpoint in the fight against Boko Haram and ISWAP for years.

Security sources say the latest development reflects the deepening collaboration between ground troops and intelligence units as they continue to track individuals suspected of aiding terrorist operations across Borno State.
