Anambra First Lady Advocates Healthy Living on World Brain Day
The First Lady of Anambra State, Dr Nonye Soludo, has urged Nigerians to adopt healthier lifestyles, saying good brain health is fundamental to overall well-being and a more productive society.
Soludo made the call in a statement issued on Wednesday to commemorate the 2026 World Brain Day, encouraging individuals to embrace healthy habits that reduce the risk of neurological disorders and support mental wellness.
The founder of the Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo initiative said maintaining a balanced diet, engaging in regular physical activity, getting adequate sleep, pursuing lifelong learning and paying attention to mental health are essential for protecting brain function.
She stressed that healthy lifestyle choices, including regular exercise, sufficient rest and managing cardiovascular risk factors, can significantly improve brain health and lower the likelihood of neurological conditions.
According to the First Lady, prioritising brain health is not only beneficial to individuals but also contributes to the development of healthier and more productive communities.
She encouraged Nigerians to support one another in promoting healthy living, noting that collective efforts to improve brain health would strengthen society as a whole.
World Brain Day is observed annually on July 22 and was established by the World Federation of Neurology to increase awareness of neurological disorders and promote access to quality brain healthcare.
The theme for the 2026 World Brain Day campaign highlights the importance of ensuring equitable access to brain health services while encouraging early detection, prompt diagnosis and appropriate care for people living with neurological conditions.
