Police Recover 26 Stolen Cows, Foiling Rustling Attempt in Ogun

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have successfully recovered 26 stolen cows after foiling a cattle rustling operation in the Ode-Remo area of the state.

The incident began around 1:30 a.m. on July 18, 2026, when suspects breached a perimeter fence at a livestock yard belonging to Adewale Ogungbe, herding the animals into the nearby bush. Upon receiving a distress call at about 3:15 a.m., the Divisional Police Officer and a patrol team immediately mobilized to the scene.

Collaborating with the local cattle rearer, police forces launched a pursuit into the surrounding terrain. Under heavy pressure from the advancing officers, the fleeing rustlers abandoned the entire herd along the Ode-Remo axis and escaped into the bush.

All 26 cows were recovered intact without loss and returned safely to the owner’s yard. Security forces have since intensified patrols and bush-combing operations in the area to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.
