Oluremi Tinubu’s ₦50m Green Competition Ends with No Submissions in Community Category

The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, announced that the community category of the Renewed Hope Initiative Green Nigeria Challenge officially closed on July 15, 2026, without receiving any valid entries.

Designed to encourage local communities to transform degraded public spaces—such as dumpsites, landfills, and abandoned lots—into green parks, gardens, and eco-friendly spaces, the community category carried a grand prize of ₦50 million.

In a statement expressing regret over the lack of public participation, Mrs. Tinubu urged state governments and local groups to take inspiration from environmental transformation projects like the remodeled Abuja City Gate executed by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. She emphasized the need for proper waste management and clearing of drainage systems to prevent flooding across communities.

While the community phase ended without a winner, Mrs. Tinubu noted that the Household Category (carrying a ₦20 million prize) and the State Category (carrying a ₦100 million prize) remain open for submissions until December 20, 2026, via the Offices of the First Ladies across various states.
