Uche Ogbodo Opens Up on Crash of Her 8-Year Marriage to Bobby Maris
Nollywood actress, Uche Ogbodo has opened up about the emotional toll of separating from her husband, Bobby Maris, admitting that she is dealing with heartbreak following the collapse of their eight-year union.
The actress, who recently confirmed that she is no longer interested in continuing the marriage, has taken to social media in a series of raw and emotional posts detailing her frustration and exhaustion with the relationship.
Speculation about trouble in the marriage first gained traction after fans noticed that Ogbodo and Maris had unfollowed each other on Instagram.
The rift became harder to ignore when both the actress and her younger sister began sharing cryptic messages on their Instagram Stories, prompting a wave of reactions from followers who had long watched the couple present themselves as a loving family unit.
Matters escalated further when a leaked audio recording surfaced online, appearing to capture Ogbodo confronting her husband over claims that he had not been paid for work he had done, with the actress reportedly expressing doubt about the explanation she was given.
Breaking her silence, Ogbodo shared a string of posts questioning why women are expected to endure unhappiness in marriage while men face no similar judgement for walking away.
She described herself as tired of playing the role of provider for a husband she referred to as the “princess” in the relationship, arguing that eight years was long enough to give to a union that no longer made her happy. She also cautioned bloggers against spreading unverified information about her personal life, insisting she had evidence to back up whatever she eventually chose to disclose.
The fallout has drawn in other family members, with Ogbodo’s sister publicly accusing Maris of being unsupportive and contributing little to the household, both financially and emotionally. She further claimed that Maris had a habit of provoking the actress and filming her reactions during arguments, describing her sister’s decision to walk away as long overdue rather than any wrongdoing.
Ogbodo and Maris were traditionally married in January 2023 in the actress’s hometown in Imo State, a union that came after the couple had already welcomed two children together and had reconnected years after first meeting in 2011.
Their relationship had long drawn public attention over their age difference, with Maris previously addressing the criticism directly, insisting that public opinion never influenced his decision to pursue Ogbodo.
As of now, neither party has issued a formal, sit-down confirmation of divorce, though Ogbodo’s recent statements have been widely interpreted as her clearest acknowledgment yet that the marriage has ended.
