Kwara Community Rejoices as Abducted ECWA Church Worshippers Regain Freedom

Residents of Omugo community in Kwara State have come out in large numbers to celebrate the safe return of three worshippers abducted from the Evangelical Church Winning All, ECWA.

The joyful reunion brought tears of happiness to family members and friends who had been praying and hoping for good news for 105 days.

The release of the captives has lifted a heavy burden from the entire area and restored some sense of normalcy.
The worshippers were taken during an attack on their church on March 22, 2026, that left the community in fear and mourning. While five of the victims sadly lost their lives in captivity, the remaining three have now regained their freedom following coordinated security operations along the Kwara-Kogi border.

Local leaders used the occasion to call for stronger security measures to prevent similar incidents in the future and protect innocent citizens.

Many people in Omugo expressed gratitude to security agencies, including the police, Department of State Services, and local vigilante groups who played roles in securing the release. The incident had affected not just the victims’ families but the whole community, with residents living in constant worry. The successful resolution has boosted morale and renewed faith in the possibility of peace returning to the region.

This latest development highlights the emotional toll that abduction cases take on communities across the country. Families and friends often endure long periods of uncertainty and pain while waiting for their loved ones. The happy ending in Omugo serves as a beacon of hope for other communities currently facing similar challenges.

As the returned worshippers reunite with their families, there are calls for continued vigilance and support from the government. The celebration in Omugo has reminded everyone of the value of human lives and the importance of working together to ensure safety. The community is now focused on healing and rebuilding stronger bonds after the ordeal.
