Milner Retires After Record 658 EPL Appearances

Veteran English midfielder James Milner has announced his retirement from professional football, ending a distinguished career that saw him become the most capped player in the history of the Premier League.

Milner, 40, retires with a record 658 Premier League appearances, cementing his legacy as one of the competition’s most consistent and durable players.

His career spanned over two decades, during which he played for several top-flight clubs and remained a key figure both on and off the pitch. He began his professional journey with Leeds United in 2002, making his debut at just 16 years old.

He went on to feature for Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Manchester City, Liverpool and most recently Brighton & Hove Albion. Throughout his career, Milner won numerous major honours, including three Premier League titles, the UEFA Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup.

Known for his versatility, discipline and leadership, he was widely regarded as one of the most reliable players of his generation. At international level, Milner earned 61 caps for England, representing the country at major tournaments including the FIFA World Cup and UEFA European Championship.

In his retirement message, Milner expressed gratitude to his teammates, coaches and supporters, describing his journey in football as beyond what he ever imagined when he first broke into the professional scene.

His retirement marks the end of an era for one of the Premier League’s most enduring and respected figures.
