Jonathan Disowns Instagram Account, Warns Public Against Impostors

The office of former President Goodluck Jonathan has cautioned the public against a social media account operating on Instagram under the handle @goodluck_ebelejonathan, describing it as fake and misleading.

The warning was issued in a statement released on Friday by Jonathan’s media aide, Ikechukwu Eze, who clarified that the former president does not own or manage any personal Instagram account.

According to the statement, the account has repeatedly presented itself in ways that could cause confusion among members of the public, sometimes claiming to be a fan page while at other times impersonating the former president.

Eze said the account had undergone multiple username changes, a development he described as part of efforts to conceal its true identity and mislead unsuspecting users.

He noted that the handle had reportedly changed its username at least 13 times and urged the public to disregard any information or claims originating from the account.

The former president’s office also called on Instagram’s parent company, about.meta.com, to take appropriate action against the account.

The statement advised members of the public to remain vigilant and verify the authenticity of social media accounts claiming to represent prominent public figures before engaging with or relying on information shared through such platforms.
