Ruling Houses Drag Oluwo to Court for Planned Exhuming of Past Kings

Some ruling houses in Iwo have taken the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, to court over the planned exhumation of past kings.

They are strongly opposing the move to dig up the remains of former traditional rulers. The matter has caused tension in the ancient town as families connected to the throne express their anger.

The ruling houses argue that disturbing the graves of past kings goes against tradition and culture. They believe such an action shows disrespect to the ancestors and the customs of the land.

The case is now before the court as both sides prepare to present their arguments.

Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi and his supporters have their own reasons for wanting the exhumation. However, the angry ruling houses insist that the process must be stopped immediately. The disagreement has divided opinions among the people of Iwo and beyond.

This court case highlights the deep respect many communities still have for traditional practices and the burial sites of their kings. Many elders see the exhumation as a serious cultural issue that should not be taken lightly. The outcome of the case could affect how similar matters are handled in other traditional settings.

As the legal battle continues, residents of Iwo are hoping for a peaceful resolution that respects both the law and the rich cultural heritage of the town. The matter has drawn attention across Osun State, with many watching closely to see how the court will rule on this sensitive traditional dispute.
