FRSC Deploys 950 Personnel for Eid-El-Kabir Traffic Operations in Kwara
The Kwara State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has mobilised 950 personnel across the state as part of measures to maintain safety and smooth traffic movement during the Eid-El-Kabir festivities.
The special operation, scheduled to take place between May 25 and May 31, 2026, will involve officers, marshals, special marshals, and emergency responders deployed to major highways, urban centres and congestion-prone areas.
In a statement released by the command’s Public Education Officer, Olayinka Basambo, the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Kabiru Kazeem, said the operation would focus on reducing road crashes, improving traffic control, and ensuring prompt emergency response during the festive period.
The command also deployed 16 patrol vehicles, four ambulances, and a 70-tonne tow truck to support rescue efforts and remove broken-down vehicles or other obstructions from highways.
According to the statement, road safety officers have already been stationed at strategic points across the state to monitor traffic and respond swiftly to emergencies.
The FRSC added that public enlightenment campaigns would be intensified in motor parks, markets, religious centres, and other public places to sensitise motorists and commuters on safe road practices.
Kazeem urged drivers to obey traffic rules and avoid violations that frequently contribute to road accidents.
He identified offences such as speeding, dangerous overtaking, overloading, use of phones while driving, tyre-related offences, seatbelt violations, route violations, and carrying passengers alongside goods as major concerns during the operation.
He explained that the exercise was designed not only to enforce traffic laws but also to safeguard lives and property throughout the Sallah celebration.
The sector commander further advised motorists to remain cautious and responsible on the roads, reminding them that “only the living celebrates.”
