ADC Says APC Will Collapse Without Federal Power
The African Democratic Congress has criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress, claiming that the party’s continued existence is dependent on its control of federal power.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, made the remarks at the unveiling of the “Rise Up Naija Movement (RUN)” initiative, organised by some members of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Abdullahi said the APC would lose relevance as a political organisation once it is no longer in power, adding that the ADC represents what he described as the future of Nigerian politics.
He argued that Nigeria’s political system has been weakened by long-standing practices that, according to him, have undermined good governance and public trust.
The ADC spokesperson said there was a need for a shift in political culture that would allow younger Nigerians to take a more active role in leadership and governance.
He said the country’s current challenges were the result of past political decisions and practices, stressing that meaningful reform would depend on adopting a new approach to politics.
The event also featured the National Coordinator of the Rise Up Naija Movement (RUN), Aliyu Audu, who said the initiative was inspired by the aspirations and frustrations of Nigerians seeking improved governance.
Audu said the movement was aimed at mobilising citizens who believe in the possibility of national renewal and better leadership outcomes.
He added that the initiative seeks to build a platform for civic engagement and encourage participation in shaping Nigeria’s political future ahead of the 2027 elections.
