Kogi Stakeholders Reject Alleged Third-Term Agenda in Kogi East
Stakeholders in Kogi State have called on Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo not to support any alleged third-term ambition linked to Senator Jibrin Isah, warning that such a move could hurt the political fortunes of the ruling All Progressives Congress in Kogi East.
The appeal was made during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Anyigba, where participants expressed concerns over attempts to recycle politicians they described as disconnected from grassroots realities.
President of Kogi East Youth Stakeholders, Ahmed Labaran, said imposing leaders who are inaccessible and not people-oriented could create challenges for the APC in future elections.
He maintained that political leaders lacking strong grassroots support should not be forced on party members and the electorate.
Labaran also advised the governor to resist external influence in determining the political direction of the state, insisting that candidates should emerge through a transparent and credible primary process.
According to the stakeholders, party loyalists who have contributed consistently to the growth of the APC over the years should be given the opportunity to contest elective positions rather than introducing unfamiliar figures into the political structure.
Also speaking at the gathering, leader of the FAWWAS FOR MEN Organization, Okeme Muhammad, supported the group’s position, saying the party’s mandate should be entrusted to committed individuals who understand the aspirations of the people and remain loyal to the party.
The stakeholders warned that any attempt to impose unpopular candidates or undermine internal democracy could weaken the APC’s chances in Kogi East.
