Groups Endorse Odunuga-Bakare for Surulere Constituency Seat
Several groups in Surulere have thrown their weight behind Hon. Barakat Odunuga-Bakare in her bid to represent Surulere Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
The endorsements came from community organisations, market women, religious bodies, and other stakeholders ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary. Many see her as a strong contender to succeed the current lawmaker, Hon. Desmond Elliot.
Odunuga-Bakare, a lawyer and former special adviser, has been meeting with different groups to present her vision.
She visited the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Surulere, where leaders pledged their full support and prayers. Market women also endorsed her, promising to mobilise voters, while non-indigene blocs from Igbo, Arewa, and South-South communities declared their backing, stressing the need for more women in leadership.
Auto parts dealers and technicians under MAPATA and NATA, along with the Federal Fire Service community at Nwaka Barracks, have equally given their support. The Surulere APC Executive Committee and other youth and political groups have joined the growing coalition.
These endorsements show a wide base of backing across faith, business, and community lines.
Her campaign focuses on inclusive representation, economic empowerment, and addressing the needs of the people. Supporters believe her experience and commitment will bring positive change to the constituency. As the APC primary approaches, the momentum appears to be building strongly in her favour.
This development adds fresh excitement to the political scene in Surulere. With various groups uniting behind Odunuga-Bakare, the race for the assembly seat is expected to be competitive. Residents will be watching closely to see how the primary unfolds in the coming weeks.
