Military Denies Civilian Deaths in Niger Airstrikes, Claims 70 Bandits Killed

The Nigerian military has strongly denied reports of civilian casualties during recent airstrikes in Niger State.

Officials say the operation targeted bandits and successfully killed 70 of them. The strikes were carried out in areas known for criminal activities in the state.

According to the military, the operation was carefully planned based on reliable intelligence. They insisted that only bandits were hit and no innocent people were killed or injured. This denial comes after some residents and groups claimed that
civilians may have died in the attacks.

The military described the operation as a major success in the fight against banditry and other security threats in the region. They urged the public to disregard what they called false information about civilian deaths.

Security forces promised to continue similar operations to restore peace in affected communities.

This development has sparked mixed reactions among people in Niger State. While some welcome the action against bandits, others have called for thorough investigations to clear doubts about possible civilian losses. Community leaders are asking for better coordination between security agencies and local residents.

As the military maintains its position, many hope the truth will come out fully. The incident highlights the challenges of fighting insecurity in areas where bandits and civilians sometimes live close to each other. Residents are praying for lasting peace and an end to the violence that has troubled the state for years.
