Tonye Cole Submits APC Form, Vows to Contest Rivers 2027 Governorship
Tonye Patrick Cole has officially joined the race for the Rivers State governorship seat in 2027. The aspirant submitted his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms under the All Progressives Congress (APC) and spoke to journalists shortly after the submission.
Surrounded by supporters and media, Cole made it clear that he is ready to compete fully for the party’s ticket.
When asked why he was there, Cole replied confidently that he had come to contest the gubernatorial election. He recalled his previous attempts, noting that he ran as the APC gubernatorial candidate in 2018 and again in 2023.
He described himself as an authentic APC member who is committed to bringing unity to the state through the party.
Cole said he is not bothered by political intrigues or the presence of other aspirants in Rivers State. He stressed that democracy means giving everyone an equal chance to compete.
According to him, all candidates, including those who previously contested under different parties, are standing on the same level, and the best person should emerge.
The aspirant strongly rejected any idea of consensus arrangement in Rivers APC. He declared that the only existing process in the state is direct primaries. Cole explained that true consensus would require all candidates to sit together and agree, which has not happened.
He therefore insisted on going through a fair and open primary election.
In his closing remarks, Tony Patrick Cole introduced himself clearly: “My name is Tony Patrick Cole MNI, running for Rivers State Governor 2027.” He ended the interaction by thanking the journalists and seeking God’s blessings as he begins his campaign journey.
