The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially endorsed President Bola Tinubu and Governor Dauda Lawal for re-election in the 2027 general election.

The endorsement took place on Saturday during a high-level stakeholders’ meeting hosted at the Government House in Gusau.

The gathering was significant due to the breadth of political attendance, bringing together leaders from all 14 local government areas in the state. Key figures present included four former governors Ahmed Sani Yarima, Mahmuda Aliyu Shinkafi, and Abdul’aziz Yari alongside the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, as well as elders and youth and women representatives.

Addressing the stakeholders, Governor Dauda Lawal explained that the administration’s alignment with the APC was a calculated, strategic move. He emphasized that this decision was made to improve coordination with the Federal Government and leverage national initiatives to support the “Renewed Hope Agenda” for the state’s development.

Governor Lawal characterized his administration’s efforts as a “Rescue Mission,” framing it as a mandate for every citizen of the state rather than any specific political tendency. He noted that the primary goals remain the restoration of stability, the rebuilding of state institutions, and the provision of effective governance that works for the people.

Looking toward the political challenges ahead, the Governor stressed the importance of maturity and discipline within the party ranks. He acknowledged that while political space expands, leadership requires navigating expectations with fairness, equity, and transparency to avoid internal division and ensure collective success.

The official communique of the meeting was delivered by the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle. The document highlighted that the primary focus of the discussions included maintaining party unity, improving governance coordination, addressing pressing security concerns, and formalizing preparations for the 2027 election cycle.

By formally committing to the APC and backing the President’s bid, the Zamfara APC stakeholders have signaled a unified approach to the upcoming election period. The party leaders expressed their collective resolve to prioritize institutional growth and community security as they prepare for the political activities ahead.
