Osinbajo Unveils Two Key Projects in Bayelsa
Former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has unveiled two major development projects in Bayelsa State, reinforcing efforts to improve infrastructure and healthcare delivery in the Niger Delta region.
The projects — the Agbura–Oxbow Lake Road and the Oporoma Referral Hospital — were inaugurated in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area in the presence of top government officials, community leaders, and residents. Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Osinbajo commended the state government for prioritizing impactful projects that directly benefit the people.
He described the road project as a critical link that would enhance transportation, open up rural communities, and stimulate economic activities across the area.
According to him, improved road connectivity would not only ease movement for residents but also support trade and investment by linking previously hard-to-reach communities with urban centers.
Also speaking at the event, Governor Douye Diri said the projects are part of his administration’s broader agenda to drive development in riverine areas.
He noted that the road construction had already created employment opportunities for local youths, while the hospital would address long-standing healthcare challenges in the region.
Diri emphasized that the Oporoma Referral Hospital is equipped to provide quality medical services, reducing the need for residents to travel long distances for treatment.
Residents and stakeholders who attended the event expressed optimism that the projects would significantly improve living standards and promote socio-economic growth in the area.
The unveiling of the projects highlights ongoing efforts by the Bayelsa State Government to bridge infrastructure gaps and enhance public service delivery across the state.
