Enugu Introduces ₦36,000 Traders Levy as IGR Hits ₦7.4 Billion

The Enugu State Government has introduced a new ₦36,000 levy for traders operating in the state. This levy is now part of the measures to increase the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR). The announcement came as the government revealed that its IGR has reached ₦7.4 billion.

Officials say the new fee will help improve the state’s finances and support development projects.

The ₦36,000 traders levy is expected to be paid by all registered traders across Enugu. The government believes this will bring in more money to fund roads, schools, hospitals, and other important services. Many traders have already started making payments since the levy was announced.

The state is using the extra revenue to carry out more projects that will benefit the people.

This latest step shows the government’s effort to rely less on federal allocations and generate more money locally. The ₦7.4 billion IGR figure is seen as a good achievement, and the new traders levy is expected to push the number even higher in the coming months.

Officials are hopeful that the levy will be accepted by traders as a way to support the growth of the state.

The Enugu State Government has promised to use the money wisely and make sure the public sees the results of the increased revenue. Traders are being encouraged to pay the levy on time so they can continue their businesses without any problems. The state is also putting measures in place to make the payment process simple and transparent for everyone.

Many residents see this development as a sign that the government is serious about improving the economy of Enugu. With the IGR now at ₦7.4 billion and the new traders levy in place, the state is expected to record even more progress in the near future. This move is part of a bigger plan to make Enugu stronger and more self-reliant.
