Kaduna PDP Women Leader, Godiya Lolo Resigns from Party

The Kaduna State Woman Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Godiya Lolo also known as Godiya Ayuba Lolo, has resigned from her position and left the party.

She made the announcement through a formal letter dated April 13. The letter was sent to the party chairman in her ward, Dura/Bitaro Ward in Jaba Local Government Area.

In the letter, Lolo thanked the PDP for giving her the chance to serve as the state women leader. She wrote that it had been an honour to hold the position and gain valuable experience. She did not give any specific reason for leaving but simply stated that she had formally resigned her membership and leadership role.

Although she has not publicly said what she will do next, sources close to politics in Kaduna say her name has already appeared in a campaign team linked to the ruling party in Kaduna South. This has led to strong speculation that she may be planning to defect to another party. If true, her move would be a big shift because she has a strong influence among women and grassroots supporters in the state.

Many see her resignation as a setback for the PDP in Kaduna, especially in its women’s wing where she played a major role in mobilising support. The party has not yet released any official statement on the matter.

However, insiders say party leaders are already holding meetings to fill the leadership gap and stop more members from leaving.

The development is happening as political activities begin to heat up ahead of the 2027 general elections. Observers believe more high profile changes in party loyalty may happen in the coming weeks. Godiya Lolo’s exit is being watched closely because of her reach and the effect it could have on women voters in Southern Kaduna and other areas.

As the situation unfolds, many in Kaduna politics are waiting to see her next step. Her decision has opened fresh talks about realignments and how key figures are repositioning themselves for future contests. For now, the PDP in Kaduna is focused on managing the impact of this high level resignation.
