Top APC figures in Kano, including Alhassan Doguwa and Abdullahi Ganduje, have officially endorsed Murtala Garo for the state’s vacant Deputy Governor position.
The decision was reached during a late-night strategy meeting on Saturday, where Garo reportedly secured 90 percent support from the partyâs key stakeholders.
Murtala Garo, a former Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, was chosen over other prominent contenders like Rabiu Bichi and Kabiru Rurum.
The move follows the recent resignation of former Deputy Governor Abdussalam Gwarzo, which left a critical leadership gap in the state’s executive branch.
Alhassan Doguwa praised Garo as a loyal and experienced politician, urging Governor Abba Yusuf to appoint him to ensure stability and effective governance.
Garo has an extensive political background, having served as a two-term commissioner, ALGON Chairman, and the APC deputy governorship candidate in 2023.
Party leaders expressed confidence that Garoâs appointment would unite various factions and strengthen the All Progressives Congressâs standing within Kano State.
