House of Representatives Mourns Kano Lawmaker Muhammad Hassan
The House of Representatives has announced the death of one of its members, Honourable Muhammad Danjuma Hassan.
He was the lawmaker representing the Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency in Kano State. Hassan passed away on Friday evening, April 10, 2026, in Abuja after a brief illness. He was 66 years old.
Hassan served as the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Judiciary. Before entering politics, he had a long and successful career in the National Assembly, where he rose to the position of Permanent Secretary. He was elected in 2023 on the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP). Many people knew him as an experienced legislative expert who helped shape important laws in the country.
The House Spokesman, Akin Rotimi, issued a statement expressing deep sorrow over the loss. He described Hassan as a valuable colleague whose knowledge and hard work left a strong mark on Nigeria’s parliament. His colleagues praised his humility, professionalism, and dedication to public service. His burial took place on Saturday, April 11, 2026, according to Islamic rites.
