Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has publicly reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to his political benefactors. Speaking at a recent gathering, he emphasized that personal integrity and gratitude are the core cornerstones of his leadership philosophy and private life.

The Governor’s remarks come amid the shifting political alliances often seen in Nigeria, where many leaders frequently fall out with their predecessors. Buni sought to distinguish himself by highlighting that loyalty is a non-negotiable trait for any honorable political career.

Addressing the audience with deep conviction, the Governor made a profound declaration regarding his commitment to those who helped him saying, “I would rather die than betray my benefactor. Loyalty is the soul of politics and the hallmark of a true leader. I cannot bite the finger that fed me.”

Beyond personal sentiment, Buni noted that political stability in Yobe depends on mutual respect and a continuity of vision.

He argued that remaining loyal to one’s roots fosters trust among the electorate and keeps governance focused on development rather than internal friction.

The Governor also advised younger politicians and aides to cultivate patience and steadfastness.

He warned that seeking quick gains through betrayal leads to a dishonorable end, whereas consistent loyalty eventually yields long-term rewards and a lasting legacy.

Political observers believe Buni’s stance is a clear message to both supporters and opponents. By taking this public stand, he aims to solidify unity within his political family and reinforce the idea that his administration is built on reliability.

The statement has sparked widespread discussion, with many praising the Governor for his principled stand. His declaration serves as a reminder of the traditional values of trust, further strengthening his bond with Yobe’s political and traditional institutions.
