NBA Seeks Justice in Alleged Forced Conversion of Muslim girl

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Dutse branch, has demanded urgent justice for 16-year-old Walida Abdullahi, who was allegedly abducted, raped, and forcibly converted to Christianity by a Department of State Services (DSS) officer, Ifeanyi Onyewuenyi.
The victim had been missing for over two years, a disappearance so traumatic that it reportedly led to the death of her mother.
The case came to light in January 2026 when the officer allegedly contacted the girl’s father, admitting she was in his custody and directing him to Abuja for a forced marriage.
The NBA described the officer’s actions as an “appalling level of barbarism” and a “crass display of impunity.”
According to a statement by the branch’s Publicity Secretary, A.B. Umar, the victim was allegedly held against her will for the duration of her disappearance and gave birth to a child as a result of the repeated sexual abuse.
The association emphasized that the suspect used his position of power as a DSS operative to facilitate the abduction, unlawful detention, and abuse of a minor.
Following a court order issued on January 7, 2026, the DSS reportedly took Onyewuenyi into custody for investigation. The NBA is now pushing for full compliance with this order and a transparent legal process to ensure all complicit parties are held accountable.
While the association has pledged to monitor the case closely to ensure justice is served for Miss Abdullahi and her family, they have also urged the public to remain calm as the judicial process unfolds.
