Abduction Suspect Not Our Staff, Says DSS

The Department of State Services (DSS) has denied claims that one Ifeanyi Festus, allegedly involved in abduction, defilement of a minor and abuse of office, is a staff member of the agency.
In a statement issued on Friday, the DSS said it has no employment record of anyone bearing that name, contrary to reports circulating in the public space.
However, the security agency confirmed that a serving officer, identified as Ifeanyi Onyewuenyi, has been arrested in connection with a separate case involving the alleged forceful conversion and marriage of a female identified as Walida Abdulhadi.
According to the DSS, the officer is currently in custody and undergoing investigation over the incident.
The agency stressed that the alleged actions are in clear violation of its rules, regulations and code of conduct.
“The Service does not condone such behaviour under any circumstance,” the statement said, adding that appropriate disciplinary measures would be taken based on the outcome of the investigation.
The DSS assured the public that findings from the ongoing probe would be made public once concluded.
The statement was signed by Favour Dozie, Deputy Director of Public Relations and Strategic Communications, at the DSS National Headquarters in Abuja, and dated January 9, 2026.
