Intelligence-Led Patrols Foil Vehicle, Motorcycle Snatching Attempts in Kebbi

Security operations across Kebbi State have led to the arrest of three suspected vehicle and motorcycle snatchers, with a stolen car and motorcycle recovered in separate incidents, the police have confirmed.

The Kebbi State Police Command said the arrests followed routine patrols and intelligence-led operations conducted between December 28 and 29, 2025, as part of ongoing efforts to curb crime and protect residents.

In a statement released on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, disclosed that operatives of the Ambursa Division intercepted two suspects along the Ambursa–Gulumbe Road while responding to suspicious activity during a patrol.

According to the police spokesperson, the suspects, Hamza Shehu, 30, and Musa Shehu Manga, 49, were arrested on December 28 while allegedly snatching an unregistered Bajaj motorcycle from a commercial motorcyclist.

“The suspects were arrested during a routine patrol by our operatives. The stolen motorcycle was successfully recovered, while one of their accomplices, identified as Chika Boss, is currently at large,” Usman said.

In a related development, the command recorded another breakthrough on December 29 with the interception of a suspect identified as Ibrahim Sule, who was allegedly attempting to move a stolen silver Toyota Corolla LE.

Usman said preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle was stolen after the owner was rendered unconscious during a journey.

“Investigation revealed that the victim was made unconscious after a substance was secretly put into his drink while on transit.
“The vehicle was later recovered, although another suspect known as Ibrahim is still on the run,” the PPRO added.

He assured members of the public that efforts were being intensified to apprehend all fleeing suspects and dismantle criminal networks involved in such crimes across the state.

SP Usman noted that the suspects currently in custody would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations. He also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station.

The police spokesperson reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustained patrols and intelligence gathering, stressing that the measures were aimed at safeguarding lives and property throughout Kebbi State.
