President Tinubu Congratulates Emir of Ilorin on 30th Anniversary on Throne

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated His Royal Highness, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, the Emir of Ilorin, as he celebrates 30 years on the throne on November 11, 2025.

In a statement, the President lauded Emir Sulu-Gambari, also known as Maimartaba Sarkin Ilorin, for his visionary leadership, dedication to justice, and commitment to the development of Ilorin.

He highlighted the Emir’s integrity, courage, and fairness, qualities that have marked his three decades of rulership.

President Tinubu noted that the Emir has worked closely with successive Kwara State administrations to maintain peace and stability in Ilorin, creating a conducive environment for unprecedented growth in the city.

Describing the Emir as a man of honour and dignity, the President said he served Nigeria with distinction prior to ascending the throne and continues to contribute to national development as Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano.

“During his tenure in the judiciary, including his service as a Justice of the Court of Appeal, Emir Sulu-Gambari demonstrated uncommon courage, dispensing justice without fear or favour,” Tinubu said.

“During our struggle for democracy under military rule, I personally benefited from his boldness in delivering justice, for which I remain eternally grateful.”

The President wished the Emir continued good health and many more years of leadership, acknowledging his pivotal role in fostering stability, peace, and progress in Ilorin and beyond.
