Tinubu Congratulates Former Vice President Namadi Sambo on His Turbaning as Sardaunan Zazzau

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated former Vice President Namadi Sambo on his turbaning as the Sardaunan Zazzau by the Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, describing the honour as a well-deserved recognition of his exemplary leadership and service to the nation.
The turbaning ceremony is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 11, 2025, in Zaria, Kaduna State.
In a statement issued on Friday, October 10, 2025, by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu said the title of Sardaunan Zazzau—a position of great cultural and historical significance in Northern Nigeria reflects the Emirate’s confidence in the former Vice President’s wisdom, integrity, and commitment to societal progress.
The President lauded Sambo’s contributions to Nigeria’s political and economic development, noting that his elevation to the revered traditional title was a testament to his “humility, statesmanship, and dedication to humanity.”
“The honour is a recognition of former Vice President Namadi Sambo’s exemplary leadership and contributions to national development. His investiture as Sardaunan Zazzau underscores his deep-rooted service to his community and the nation,” President Tinubu stated.
President Tinubu also commended Emir Bamalli for upholding the noble tradition of honouring deserving individuals whose character and patriotism embody the values of the Zazzau Emirate and the broader ideals of unity, service, and integrity.
While wishing the former Vice President success in his new traditional role, the President urged him to continue to inspire younger generations and to work with traditional and community leaders in promoting peace, unity, and development across the country.
The Sardauna title, historically associated with leadership, wisdom, and guardianship of community values, is among the most respected titles in Northern Nigeria, and has been conferred on notable figures who have demonstrated a lifetime of public service and statesmanship.
