Super Falcons Yet to Receive $100,000 FG Reward, Says Captain Ajibade

Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has disclosed that the team is still waiting to receive the $100,000 reward and other commitments promised by the Federal Government after their triumph at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

In an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Ajibade confirmed that none of the pledges, including the cash prize and other benefits, had been fulfilled.

When asked if the $100,000 had been delivered, she replied, “We have not received our money, but hopefully, it would be paid. They have not paid; all the promises, we have not received anything.”

Ajibade led Nigeria’s Super Falcons to a record-extending WAFCON title in Morocco last year. Following the victory, President Bola Tinubu conferred national honours of Officer of the Order of Niger (OON) on the players and technical crew.

He also pledged each player $100,000 and a three-bedroom flat.

At the Presidential Villa reception, Tinubu lauded the team for their “indomitable spirit of resilience, determination, and courage,” calling their win a historic moment for the nation.
