FG Launches Tuition-Free Training Programme for Technical School Teachers
The Federal Government has officially launched a tuition-free training initiative aimed at enhancing the capacity and skills of teachers in technical schools across the country.
The programme, which was unveiled on Monday, seeks to address the critical shortage of qualified technical educators and improve the quality of vocational and technical education in Nigeria.
Speaking at the launch, the Minister of Education emphasized that the move is part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for education reform and youth empowerment.
According to the minister, the free training will focus on modern instructional techniques, digital literacy, and industry-relevant skills to better prepare students for the evolving demands of the labour market.
He noted that the initiative would be implemented in collaboration with technical institutions and education partners nationwide.
“This programme is not just an investment in our teachers, but a bold step toward revitalizing technical education and ensuring our youth are equipped with the skills to drive industrial growth and innovation,” the minister stated.
The training will be open to current teachers in technical colleges, as well as aspiring educators, with participants receiving certification upon completion.
Stakeholders in the education sector have applauded the initiative, calling it a timely response to the nation’s growing need for skilled manpower and educational reform.
