Student Jumps to Death from Three storey Building in Awka
A devastating incident occurred at a private lodge in Awka South Local Government Area, Anambra State, resulting in the loss of life of a male student from Nnamdi Azikiwe University.
The student, whose identity has not been disclosed, reportedly leapt from the balcony of a three-storey building, succumbing to fatal injuries.
Eyewitnesses claim that the deceased had ingested unknown substances, suspected to be “mkpurummiri”, before the fatal jump.
The student’s roommate, who was also found under the influence of the substance, is currently being held for questioning.
According to Ken Chukwurah, Chief Safety Officer at UNIZIK, the incident is being thoroughly investigated to determine the circumstances surrounding the student’s death.
Chukwurah stated that the university is working to verify the identity of the victim and gather more information about the incident, which occurred at a private lodge outside the university premises.
The authorities are also making efforts to contact the deceased’s family and notify them of the tragic incident. The roommate of the victim is expected to be questioned further once he regains stability.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety and well-being of students residing in private lodges outside the university.
