X, Formerly Twitter Wows Inebehe Effiiong With Unexpected Earnings

“As someone who has never been interested in monetizing my social media presence, I, Inibehe Effiong, was taken aback when I received a payment of $186.26 (approximately N300,700) from X, representing my Creator Revenue Share for the last two weeks.

“This amount is unprecedented for me, and I must admit that I was not expecting it.

“As a user who doesn’t frequently post on X, I have never considered the revenue potential of my online presence. In fact, I have always viewed my social media accounts as platforms for activism and advocacy, rather than as a means of generating income. I have consistently declined offers from brands to run paid advertisements on my accounts, and I have also turned down requests from friends and mutuals to promote their businesses.

“My approach to social media has always been driven by a desire to use my online presence as a force for good, rather than as a way to earn money. I am not an influencer, and I do not post content with the primary goal of promoting a brand or product. However, with the introduction of Elon Musk’s verification policy, which requires users to pay for verification, I have been forced to consider the monetization of my account.

“As someone who was verified by Twitter (now X) long before the introduction of this policy, I have been wondering whether there are other Nigerians who are earning significant amounts of money from X on a regular basis. Are there users who are consistently generating revenue from their posts, and if so, what strategies are they using to achieve this?

“I would love to hear from others who have experience with earning revenue from X. What are your thoughts on the platform’s Creator Revenue Share program, and how do you think it can be used to support creators and promote high-quality content? Share your thoughts and let’s start a conversation,” he tweeted.

*The Rise of Monetization on Social Media*

The introduction of Elon Musk’s verification policy has sparked a debate about the monetization of social media accounts. While some users are embracing the opportunity to earn revenue from their online presence, others are concerned about the potential impact on the quality and authenticity of content.

As social media continues to evolve, it is likely that we will see more platforms introducing monetization options for creators.

However, it is essential to consider the potential consequences of this trend and to ensure that the pursuit of revenue does not compromise the integrity and value of online content.

*What Do You Think?*

Have you had any experience with earning revenue from X or other social media platforms? Do you think that monetization is a positive development for social media, or do you have concerns about its potential impact? Share your thoughts and join the conversation.
