Tinubu Congratulates Benin’s President-Elect, Wadagni
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Romuald Wadagni on his election as President of the Benin Republic, following the April 12 presidential polls.
Wadagni, who currently serves as the country’s Minister of Finance, secured an overwhelming majority of votes in the election.
In a letter personally signed by him, Tinubu said the victory reflects the confidence the Beninese people have in Wadagni’s vision and track record in public service.
He also commended the government and citizens of Benin for conducting a peaceful electoral process.
The Nigerian leader noted that both countries share longstanding cultural, historical, and economic ties, expressing optimism about deepening cooperation under Wadagni’s administration.
He added that he looks forward to working closely with the President-elect to strengthen bilateral relations, enhance regional security, and promote economic growth within the ECOWAS sub-region and the African Union.
Tinubu further wished Wadagni wisdom and success as he prepares to assume office, assuring him of Nigeria’s support and cooperation.
The message was conveyed in a statement issued on April 16 by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
