The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has visited the palace of the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, to seek royal blessings and prayers.

He went with his running mate, Kayode Adereti, the Osun APC Chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, and other party leaders. The visit took place at the Ooni’s palace in Ile-Ife on Monday.

Oyebamiji told the Ooni that he came to ask for divine support and guidance as he prepares to begin his campaign for the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

He pledged to serve the people with honesty and work hard for the progress of Ife and the entire Osun State. He added that he had informed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu about the visit, and the President strongly advised him to seek the blessings from the ancient throne.

The Ooni of Ife received the delegation warmly and prayed for Oyebamiji’s success. He praised the candidate for showing humility by coming to seek blessings. The traditional ruler reminded everyone that an Oba belongs to all and must stay above politics. He urged politicians to promote unity and settle differences through dialogue instead of creating division.

Oyebamiji also commended the Ooni for his efforts in promoting Yoruba culture and bringing unity among the people. He described the Ooni as a father to all Yorubas and a strong voice for peace and development. The candidate promised to justify any blessings he receives by delivering good governance and real development if elected.

The Ooni advised Oyebamiji to always remember that blessings must be followed by good deeds. He stressed the importance of serving the people selflessly and keeping the interest of Osun State at heart. The visit has been seen as a sign of respect for traditional institutions and the role they play in the political process.

This move by Oyebamiji comes as political activities increase ahead of the Osun governorship election. Many see the visit as an important step to gain the support of traditional rulers and the people of Ife, a city that holds great historical and cultural value in Yoruba land.
