Soldiers Get All Kits Free, Insists Nigerian Army

The Nigerian Army has come out strongly to deny claims that its troops have to buy their own uniforms, boots, or bulletproof vests. Officials say every soldier is fully equipped before going to any operation.

They insist that the military takes care of all basic needs through its official supply system.

This clear statement follows recent viral videos where some ex-soldiers complained about poor welfare. Many people online shared stories saying soldiers often spend their own money on gear.

The Army has now described these reports as untrue and not a true picture of how things work.

According to the military, uniforms, helmets, bulletproof vests, and other protective items are provided free of charge. Troops also receive regular allowances for operations, especially those serving in tough areas like the North-East. The Army added that while some soldiers may buy extra personal items for comfort, no one is ever deployed without proper equipment.

Many Nigerians have reacted to the Army’s position. Some current and former soldiers, as well as people living near barracks, say the situation on the ground is not always as smooth as described.

They claim allowances for kits have been irregular in recent years, forcing troops to cover costs themselves.

The issue has sparked fresh debate about the welfare of Nigerian soldiers. As the conversation continues, the Army maintains that its troops are well taken care of and ready to serve the country. This latest response aims to clear the air and rebuild trust among the public.
