A suspected cultist, Emmanuel Keta, was apprehended by the Edo State Security Corps for the attempted murder of Naomi Monday, a JSS 3 student. 

The attack occurred in the Agbado community of Iguobazuwa, Ovia South-West Local Government Area.

Keta, who was reportedly initiated into a secret cult in late 2025, was acting on a gruesome mandate. To earn a promotion within his group, he was allegedly tasked with killing at least 11 young people.

The victim was targeted shortly after returning home from school. Without any provocation, the suspect attacked her with a cutlass, inflicting several serious wounds. Neighbors heard her screams and intervened, forcing the attacker to flee.

The girl is currently fighting for her life in a hospital, while her family demands swift justice.

Following a manhunt, security operatives successfully tracked down and arrested Keta, who has since confessed to the crime.

Police spokesperson ASP Eno Ikoedem confirmed that the suspect is being held for attempted murder. The Commissioner of Police has ordered his transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further prosecution.
