Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Labour and Employment, has officially resigned from President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet.

She announced her departure through a statement on Friday, marking the end of her tenure in the administration’s “Renewed Hope” era.

In her farewell message, the former lawmaker expressed deep appreciation for the chance to serve the country at such a high level. She stated, “It is with a heart full of gratitude that I announce my resignation as Honourable Minister of State for Labour and Employment.”

The Minister credited President Tinubu for his leadership and for trusting her to handle the labor portfolio. She noted, “This decision comes with profound gratitude to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the opportunity to serve Nigeria in his administration.”

Onyejeocha also highlighted the collaborative efforts of the ministry’s staff in achieving progress for Nigerian workers.

She remarked, “Together, we advanced policies that protected workers’ rights, promoted workplace safety, and expanded employment opportunities.”

Reflecting on her professional relationship with the President, she emphasized the value of his guidance during her time in office. She said, “Your trust, support, and visionary leadership have been invaluable. Working under your Renewed Hope Agenda has been an honor and privilege.”

She did not fail to mention her constituency in Abia State, thanking them for their unwavering encouragement throughout her journey. To them, she said, “To my constituents, you have been my inspiration and my strength. Your support, prayers, and belief in me have sustained me.”

While she did not explicitly state her next move, Onyejeocha hinted that her commitment to the country remains firm. She concluded by saying, “Serving Nigeria has been the greatest privilege of my life. As one chapter closes, another opens. I remain committed to service.”
