Fani-Kayode Mocks ADC NWC After INEC Derecognition
Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to Germany, Femi Fani-Kayode, has criticised the National Working Committee of the African Democratic Congress led by David Mark following its derecognition by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
INEC based its decision on a court order directing the commission to maintain the status quo pending the resolution of a suit challenging the legitimacy of the party’s current leadership.
Reacting in a Facebook post on Thursday, Fani-Kayode described the development as evidence that the party leadership had lost credibility, claiming it had been rejected by multiple stakeholders, including the courts, the electoral body, and its founding members.
He advised key figures within the party to focus on building a viable opposition platform over the next five years instead of pursuing immediate political ambitions.
According to him, such efforts could position them to field a credible presidential candidate in the 2031 general election.
Fani-Kayode also questioned the party’s readiness for governance, arguing that its internal challenges undermine its ability to lead the country.
