DSS Arrests Suspected Ammunition Courier in Kano, Intercepts 200 Rounds

Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested a 25-year-old woman, Nafisa Usman, for allegedly supplying ammunition to bandits operating across multiple states.

Security sources said the suspect was apprehended at a major motor park in Kano, where she was found in possession of 200 rounds of ammunition. The consignment was reportedly transported from Lafia in Nasarawa State and was en route to Kankara in Katsina State.

According to the sources, the arrest followed actionable intelligence that tracked the suspect’s movements and activities. She was intercepted before completing the delivery allegedly intended for bandits operating within the Kankara forest.

The suspect, said to be a native of Zango village in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, reportedly confessed to being involved in the illicit trade for about two months. She allegedly disclosed that the ammunition was supplied to her by an individual identified as “Teso,” who she claimed works in collaboration with a military operative based in Lafia.

Sources further revealed that the suspect admitted facilitating transactions valued at over ₦5 million through Unguwa Uku motor park in Kano for onward delivery to Katsina State.

The ammunition, according to her statement, was meant for a bandit leader identified as Mallam Haruna, as well as other individuals named Buba and Abu, all said to be operating within the Kankara axis.

She also reportedly disclosed that she was introduced into the network by a livestock trader based in Kano identified as Sulaiman.

Security sources noted that the operation is part of ongoing efforts by the DSS to dismantle criminal networks, disrupt illegal arms supply routes, and strengthen national security.
